Armenian gampr

GamprGampr – the national dog breed of Armenia. This very ancient breed of dog, which had formed naturally by the Armenian Plateau old, guarding flocks of sheep from attack by predators – wolves, bears, leopards. Indeed gampr a variety of local Armenian Caucasian Shepherd, specifically Caucasian wolfhound. Under the name of the Caucasian sheep-dog, this breed of dog registered in the Kennel Club, but to a group of dogs known as Alsatians (collie, sheltie, bobtail, briar), she has little in common, as is typical in its origin mastiffs. Consequently caucasian shepherd is much more closely related to the English Mastiff and German mastiff than with sheepdogs.

From the Caucasian sheep-dogs, which we used to see on the exhibitions, gampr differs in that is still only a working dog, capable of in which case alone does not kill very large Caucasian wolf. Caucasian Sheepdog are of two types – long-haired and shorthaired. And the latter type recently unfortunately forgotten. At exhibitions fluffy dog with a huge mane make more impressed and it is this type of preference. Therefore, the vast majority of the Caucasian Sheepdog has a very long coat COSATU and resembles a bear or a lion. However, the train for a working dog is much more suited shorter hair. Therefore, wool of gampr relatively shorter than in the exhibition of the Caucasian sheep-dogs, but has sufficient length and thickness to withstand extreme cold, typical of mountainous regions of Armenia. Too long hair is in such circumstances would be stuck with dirt and dust (after all, the shepherds do not have time daily comb their dogs). Moreover, by ingestion of water or moisture, in a long coat in freezing temperatures formed icicles, and then it completely loses its cold tolerance quality. It is worth to note that even in the arctic wolves, as well as the northern sled dogs such as huskies hair is very thick, but not too long. Also we should remember St. Bernard. At the time when this breed of dogs used to locate and rescue people in the mountains, she was short-haired. Long-haired St. Bernard type appeared only later.

From the Caucasian Sheepdog gampr differ also in size. Gampr – a large, powerful and very physically strong dog, but it is never so huge and heavy as some of the Caucasian sheep-dogs show class. Too heavy dog, with dyspnea and disease of the joints simply would not have survived in those conditions in which they live of gampr not one millennium. You should also say a few words about the temperament and character of gampr. In contrast to the Caucasian sheep-dogs, he is not as aggressive and ferocious people. When the shepherd returned to the mountains, he passes with his flock of sheep and dogs guarding it through all the village, at the same time as you can imagine, he does not keep their dogs on a leash. The dog, which would rush to the people and would be for them potentially dangerous for this purpose, as you can imagine, does not fit to. Aggression and anger of gampr aimed solely at those who encroach on the property or the life of his master, whether man or beast. In conclusion, article I would like to add that based on their physical and mental data, the Armenian gampr is one of the most dangerous dogs in action and one of the best hounds in the world. Against the background of many corrupt unwise selection of breeds, gampr remains extremely healthy physically working dog.

We need to remember and to know that the brave Caucasian Shepherd, as a rule, comes to grips with the offender, who find themselves in a protected area, without barking. This is not always convenient, as a guard dog must first raise the alarm, warning the owner or the protection of the invasion of outsiders.
Here are the places, where the one of the oldest breeds of dogs- Caucasian Shepherd has spread – Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ossetia, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, etc.

We can distinguish several types of Caucasian Shepherd Dog: Georgian, Armenian, Azeri, Dagestan and Kabardino-Balkaria and Kalmyk. There are some differences among them; in the type of constitution, in color, length and quality of wool. The best type of the Shepherds is Georgian, because they are the largest, with a strong backbone of a powerful, correct, a typical head. Solid colors and long hair make these dogs especially impressive and magnificent. Azeri type of Caucasian Shepherd Dog is divided into two subtypes: the mountain (close to the Georgian type) and steppe – with a more elongated head, short hair and larger feet. Red color with a darker mask is typical for this kind of dogs. This type is similar to the Armenian, Georgian, but these dogs are little smaller and have less powerful bone structure, also with long hair. Dagestan shepherd is strong, rough constitution, with well developed bone structure and short or medium length hair. Color varied: light-gray and reddish hues, red, yellow, white, brown, brindle.

progeny wolves

There is no consensus about the origin of man’s best friend – dogs. Archaeological findings have shown that dogs existed on Earth already 25-30 million years ago. Thus, it can be argued that during the so-called Cenozoic era, there was farm animals like dogs. The scientific name of this animal – Cynodesmus. As a result of evolution, which has lasted millions of years, there was an interim wolf similar sort – Tomarctus, who became the ancestor of the wolf, jackal, fox, coyote, and only canine.

The man tame wolf became to an animal called a dog. This process occurs in several parts of the world at the same time, approximately 12 thousand years ago. The remains of dogs, founded in the mountains of Idaho, as well as in Europe, Asia and South America, belong to the same historical era. The friendship between man and dog has started long time ago. A dog accompanies man always and everywhere: in wartime and in peacetime, in wealth and poverty, in art, hunting, sports, scientific research, etc. For this consistency an English philosopher, not accidentally, wishing to pay tribute to them, called the dogs “honorable human beings”.

Dog’s fight

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

There are the following dog’s fighting breeds: American Staffordshire terrier, Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull, which are descended from the bulldog and the mastiff. At the same time there are also no fighting breed dogs: German Shepherd Dog, Central Asian Shepherd Dog, fox terrier, Caucasian Shepherd Dog. Comparative analysis of these two branches and the foundation was laid in the subject report, as well as an experiment, which was conducted earlier.
Here is the experiment, mentioned above; a dog was held on a leash by his owner and then appeared an “incentive” for about 4 meters (a man, a ball, other toys, dog, etc.).The whole point of this experiment is that researcher followed the reaction of the dog. So non fighting dog breeds reacted differently to “incentive” depending on gender, breed, age, situation, etc., but in general these dogs were quiet. The quietest dog’s breed was German Shepherd. Fighting breeds behaved absolutely opposite way. They didn’t react to the appearance of man, but reacted to the appearance of another dog with barking or attacking a subject they have always responded to consistently. A special aggression was caused by the other dogs; even some were simply unmanageable and were ready just to devour his potential victim.
Fighting dogs guard the territory, which they imagine as their own and of course by the appearance of displeasing to them object, they are ready to attack. Fighting breeds dog attack always comes without warning or permit from a position of strength and aggression.
Non fighting breed usually growls, barks, stands on straightened legs, rocks preventing the enemy. So this warning is very eloquent and understandable to all people and animals that live next to the dogs. Fighting dogs behave in a diametrically opposite way. They crawl up to the victim (especially if it is a big dog) without growling, and suddenly pounce on it. In the animal world the attack on the brethren isn’t so widespread, so the behavior of fighting dogs is very abnormal.
The ancestors of fighting breed were taken in England, where fighting with them were fun, furthermore people could make money on their fights. Dogs were fighting not only with each other, but with the bulls, donkeys, lions and sometimes won. The winners were selected for further breeding. Fighting dogs were always fighting alone, therefore there wasn’t ability to communicate with the other dogs. But this fact developed the skills such as courage, cruelty, aggressiveness, cunning. They attack dogs indiscriminately, whether a puppy or an adult female dog – all of them are equal in this regard. There’s also Puppy Dog fighting breed, which inherited all the signs, mentioned above.
Staffordshire breed is closer to the most common breeds of dogs, but they can’t form flocks, because they absolutely can’t get along with the other dogs. It’s seldom that the dog, which belongs to fighting breeds, doesn’t grow aggressive, but it depends on the hosts. Rarely are those who are ready to make all possible efforts directed towards the education of normal dogs.
